Full-Time Campus Police Corporal

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Atlanta Technical College, is seeking a Full-Time Campus Police Corporal to join its Campus Safety division. Reporting to the Chief of Security, you will act as a senior law-enforcement officer on the main ATC campus, providing patrol oversight, mentorship, and leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as first-line supervisor in the Chief’s absence and act as Officer-in-Charge.
• Plan, prioritize, supervise, and review the work of sworn officers in traffic, patrol, investigations, crime prevention and community relations.
• Supervise non-sworn personnel in dispatch, records, and evidence management as assigned.
• Prepare, process and maintain written reports, daily activity logs and incident documentation.
• Review subordinate reports for accuracy, implement agency policies and procedures.
• Train, evaluate and counsel assigned personnel; assist with new-employee orientation.
• Act as incident commander when required and conduct internal affairs and citizen-complaint investigations.
• Provide administrative support, conduct operational studies and recommend program improvements.

Required profile

• Extensive law-enforcement experience, preferably at a collegiate campus or municipal level.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor sworn and non-sworn staff.
• Strong knowledge of police policies, procedures and community-relations practices.
• Excellent written communication skills for report preparation and record keeping.
• Ability to act decisively as incident commander and conduct investigations.
