Full Stack Developer and AI Web Technologist

About the role

Colgate University’s Information Technology Services is seeking a collaborative Full Stack Developer and AI Web Technologist to modernize and support its web presence. The role involves building new sites, enhancing existing ones, and integrating emerging AI technologies within the university’s digital ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of web development, from theme customization to module creation and API integrations, ensuring compliance with branding, security, and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Manage the deployment pipeline, perform routine Drupal core and contributed module updates, apply security patches, and oversee performance monitoring using tools such as New Relic and Web Core Vitals.
• Establish performance baselines, implement optimization strategies, and maintain reliable backup and restore procedures.
• Collaborate with the Communications team and other ITS colleagues to translate stakeholder feedback into functional web solutions.
• Maintain expertise in emergent AI technologies, evaluate their relevance to web services, and guide their adoption.
• Provide occasional WordPress support for the “Domain of One’s Own” environment.

Required profile

• Strong collaborative mindset and creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Solid experience with Drupal development and a good understanding of its security and performance considerations.
• Familiarity with Lando, GitHub, and modern version‑control workflows.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
