Fuel Distribution Systems Mechanic (Tech C)

About the role

The Fuel Distribution Systems Mechanic (FDSM) Tech C is an entry-level position that operates, inspects, maintains, diagnoses, adjusts and makes minor repairs to fuel distribution systems. The worker is knowledgeable of diagnostic equipment, hand and pneumatic tools and measuring devices used in fuel system maintenance, and also helps with spill prevention, cleanup and environmental management. It is a union position with the Teamsters, paid at $41.07 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain liquid fuel storage, distribution and dispensing systems, and manage and modify their components.
• Check components for operation, adjustment, pressures and internal and external leaks under pressure, and troubleshoot malfunctions using drawings and schematics.
• Modify equipment for specific missions or to increase efficiency, and perform recurring maintenance and seasonal overhauls.
• Develop and establish operation and maintenance procedures, and advise on installation and repair problems.
• Perform planning activities, facility surveys, cost estimates for in-service work and coordinate plans and activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least one year of experience in the same type of work.
• Commercial driver's license with hazardous material endorsements may be required.
• Able to obtain and maintain base access and restricted area access.
• Ability to work in a shop environment with fumes, moving vehicles, lifting up to 50 pounds and exposure to noise, heat, vibration and electrical hazards, while following safety, quality and procedure compliance requirements.
