Front-End Web Developer – Early Career

About the role

The Strategic Communications Office at Applied Research Laboratories is looking for an early‑career Front‑End Web Developer & Designer. You will help shape the look, feel, and usability of both internal and public‑facing websites while receiving mentorship from a senior developer.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain ARL’s internal and external web properties.
• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Assist senior staff with feature implementation and issue resolution.
• Process web requests through ServiceNow with attention to detail.
• Contribute to visual design, ensuring consistent branding and interaction patterns.
• Support accessibility compliance (WCAG, Section 508) and assist with testing.
• Collaborate with designers, communications specialists, and archivists across departments.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience in web design, UI design, or front‑end development.
• Portfolio or examples of academic, internship, or personal projects demonstrating front‑end work.
• Strong interest in user experience and visual design.
• Detail‑oriented with a willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
