Front Desk Receptionist – Primary Care

About the role

The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients visiting our primary‑care clinic. You will ensure a welcoming environment, manage patient flow, and support billing and scheduling operations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and process check‑in/check‑out.
• Collect co‑payments, issue receipts, and manage cash drawer balances.
• Verify insurance coverage, document eligibility, and communicate sliding‑fee processes.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR/EHR system, scan paper forms, and handle clinical inbox tasks.
• Schedule appointments, referrals, and follow‑up visits; coordinate interpreter services when needed.
• Answer and route telephone calls professionally.
• Assist with orientation of medical assistants, students, and other staff.
• Perform marginal duties such as covering other staff, running errands, and supporting center management.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office or clinic.
• Ability to follow front‑desk procedures and billing policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems.
• Experience using medical billing and insurance verification software.
• Cash handling and basic accounting skills.
• Scheduling software competency.
