French Teacher – Boarding School (Fall 2026)

About the role

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is recruiting a French Teacher for a boarding school for girls in the Albany, NY area, starting in Fall 2026. This is a one‑year leave‑replacement position with the possibility of extension, and may include on‑campus housing and meals.

Key responsibilities

• Teach multiple French courses each semester across a range of proficiency levels for upper‑school students.
• Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Facilitate conversational practice, pronunciation work, and extracurricular events that showcase students’ French abilities.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and behavior.
• Participate in professional‑development activities and stay current with language‑education best practices.
• Assist with residential life duties and supervise extracurricular or athletic activities as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, Education, or a related field (required); Master’s degree preferred.
• Fluency in French.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to support extracurricular and residential life activities.
