Founding Software Engineer – Computational Biology Platform

About the role

We are looking for exceptional founding software engineers to scale a computational biology platform that powers a drug‑discovery pipeline. You will work directly with the founders to design, build, and scale the infrastructure, APIs, and web interface that scientists and customers rely on.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core systems for computational biology tooling.
• Own end‑to‑end components of the stack, from architecture through deployment.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance as the platform grows.
• Collaborate with users to gather feedback, translate needs into product improvements, and deliver elegant solutions.
• Scale machine‑learning inference on AWS, manage HPC batch jobs, and handle bio‑informatics data processing.

Required profile

• Adaptable and eager to tackle diverse problems (e.g., HPC scaling, frontend work, automated fine‑tuning).
• Experience with AWS DevOps and MLOps tools.
• Full‑stack development background.
• Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
• Experience with AI/ML models is a plus.

• AWS services: DynamoDB, EC2, S3.
• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• MLOps: CUDA, Conda, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Full‑stack web development.
• Computational biology tools: Biopython, pdb file handling.
• HPC and job scheduling: Slurm, bash scripting, Colab notebooks.
