Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Code Metal is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the last mile of delivering validated AI‑generated solutions into real‑world customer environments. You will work directly with mission‑critical teams to integrate, optimize, debug, and operate workloads on GPUs, FPGAs, and edge systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end deployment of validated solutions, from implementation through production acceptance on target hardware.
• Collaborate with customer engineers to integrate solutions, understand operational constraints, and close gaps between validation and production.
• Productionize and optimize DSP, RF, communications, or compute‑heavy pipelines for performance, testability, and reliability on heterogeneous accelerators.
• Debug across the full stack—algorithms, software, hardware, and toolchains—in complex deployment environments.
• Travel to customer sites (30‑75% of the time) to integrate, test, and validate systems in real‑world settings.

Required profile

• 5+ years (senior) to 10+ years (principal) of experience in software, systems, or applied algorithm engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, high ownership mindset, and comfort operating in ambiguous, high‑stakes environments.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; some assignments may require an active Top Secret clearance.

Required skills

• Programming: Python, C++, CUDA, Matlab, VHDL, Verilog, Rust.
• Hands‑on experience with GPU programming, FPGA development, embedded or edge compute environments.
• Experience optimizing and deploying compute‑intensive workloads such as DSP, RF, communications, or computer vision.
