Food Service Worker – Terrell RYDC (Dawson, GA)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Food Service Worker for the Terrell Regional Youth Detention Center in Dawson, GA. Under direct supervision, you will learn to prepare, heat, and finish cooking food items while providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Prepare food by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming using manual and electric appliances.
• Assist with food supply requisitions, sanitation, and maintenance inspections.
• Receive payment for food items and handle cash transactions.
• Replenish supplies at steam tables and service bars.
• Store food properly to prevent spoilage and unpack/store supplies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six months of experience in a food service environment.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.

Required skills

• Basic food preparation using manual and electric equipment.
• Cash handling and customer service.
• Cleaning and sanitation procedures.
