About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Food Service Worker for the Savannah RYDC location. Under direct supervision, you will learn to prepare, heat, and finish cooking food items while providing courteous service to customers. This entry‑level position offers a chance to develop food service skills in a government setting.

Key responsibilities

• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Prepare, peel, slice, and trim food using manual and electric appliances.
• Assist with food supply requisitions and conduct sanitation and maintenance inspections.
• Receive payments for food items and handle cash transactions.
• Replenish supplies, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars.
• Store food in designated containers to prevent spoilage.
• Unpack and store raw and prepared food products.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to learn food preparation techniques and cash handling procedures.
• Willingness to work in a team-oriented, fast‑paced environment.
• Compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
