About the role

Join the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities as a Food Service Worker 3 at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta, located in Decatur. You will prepare, heat, and serve meals while maintaining strict safety and sanitation standards for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, heat, finish cooking, and portion food items for service.
• Receive and disburse money in the food service area.
• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Operate manual and electric food‑preparation appliances.
• Assist with food supply requisitions, sanitation, and maintenance inspections.
• Store food in designated containers to prevent spoilage.
• Take customer orders, serve meals, and package take‑out items.
• Replenish supplies, condiments, and equipment at steam tables and service bars.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a food‑service environment (hospital experience preferred) or equivalent experience at the lower level Food Service Worker 2.
• Ability to pass a state and national background check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
• Cash handling experience.
• Familiarity with manual and electric food‑preparation equipment.
