Fleet and Safety Manager

About the role

John Mini Distinctive Landscapes is seeking a hands‑on Fleet and Safety Manager to lead its safety culture and oversee all fleet operations across the tri‑state area. You will protect the company’s most valuable assets—its people and vehicles—by ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of safety programs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve safety policies, training and inspection programs.
• Partner with leaders to identify workplace risks and deploy practical mitigation solutions.
• Manage the fleet program, including driver onboarding, vehicle assignments, compliance tracking and performance monitoring.
• Monitor driver qualifications, Motor Vehicle Records, telematics data and DOT compliance.
• Investigate injuries, vehicle accidents and safety incidents, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Administer Workers’ Compensation and automobile liability claims and coordinate return‑to‑work programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and other applicable regulations through site inspections and documentation.
• Oversee fleet maintenance, registrations, inspections, repairs and lifecycle planning.
• Maintain relationships with vendors, repair facilities and service providers to optimize cost‑effective fleet operations.
• Prepare regulatory filings, compliance reports and executive dashboards on safety and fleet performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2‑4 years of experience managing safety programs, fleet operations, or a combination of both.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and related federal, state and local regulations.
• Strong investigative, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
• Effective communication and relationship‑building skills with employees, managers, vendors and external partners.
