Fiscal Policy Analyst – State Government

About the role

The Office of Planning and Budget (OPB) of the State of Georgia is seeking a Fiscal Policy Analyst to support the development, monitoring, and analysis of agency budgets and fiscal policies. This position works closely with the Governor’s office, state agencies, and the General Assembly to ensure sound fiscal stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze annual agency budget requests and prepare recommendations for OPB leadership.
• Review agency budget spend plans, including complex revenue projections, on a monthly or quarterly basis.
• Conduct multi‑year financial trend analysis and monitor program performance against strategic plans.
• Evaluate agency allotment requests and perform detailed data analysis to support approvals.
• Monitor state and federal legislative proposals for fiscal and operational impacts.
• Research budget and policy priorities, preparing presentations, white papers, and policy briefs.
