Fire Protection Designer

About the role

The Fire Protection Designer will join Hill Fire Protection (HFP) within the Hill Group, supporting fire sprinkler projects across the Chicagoland and Indiana regions. Working closely with project management, estimation and sales teams, the role ensures accurate design and timely delivery of fire protection systems.

Key responsibilities

• Produce layout and design drawings using HydraTech, an AutoCAD and Revit based software.
• Participate in project turnover, pre‑planning meetings and on‑site field surveys.
• Generate hydraulic calculations, 3D BIM coordination, and prepare stock lists.
• Design fire protection systems in compliance with applicable codes and contract scope.
• Submit drawings for building permits and obtain required approvals.
• Maintain organized records of active projects and track design hours against schedules.
• Represent HFP in project coordination, scheduling, change requests and technical assistance.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of fire design experience.
• NICET certification.
• Degree in engineering or a related field.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and deliver projects on time.
