Fire Assay Technician – Sparks, NV

About the role

Reporting to the Fire Assay Manager, the Fire Assay Technician conducts analysis of mineral samples by fusion. The role involves operating fusion equipment and maintaining accurate calibration records in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Load, pour and pound fusion material safely and efficiently.
• Oversee team members’ loading and pouring methods to ensure safety.
• Set up crucibles for mixing and discard unusable crucibles.
• Process incoming samples quickly according to priority.
• Perform and document quality checks at each stage and halt production when necessary.
• Operate fusion equipment and keep calibration records up to date.
• Follow occupational health and safety legislation, BV policies, ISO standards and wear required PPE.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma; post‑secondary science or chemistry education is a plus.
• Previous experience in sample preparation or a mineral processing laboratory is advantageous.
• Ability to work in a hot environment, stand and walk for most of the shift, and lift up to 50 lb repeatedly.
• Open and inclusive mindset with a willingness to work in a team dynamic.
