Fire Assay Supervisor – Sparks, NV

About the role

Reporting to the Geochemistry and Fire Assay Manager, the Fire Assay Supervisor oversees the fire assay floor team and coordinates processing of customer samples following established SOPs and safe practices. The role involves medium to heavy physical work, handling chemical hazards, controlled heat sources and lead, as well as light computer tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out fire assay floor procedures in accordance with SOPs and ensure safe practices.
• Monitor workflow, sample priority, and staffing levels to meet sample volumes.
• Train and orient fire assay technicians and oversee adherence to procedures.
• Maintain equipment performance, inventory of consumables, and quality of chemicals.
• Report deviations, unsafe conditions, and non‑conforming work to the Geochemistry and Fire Assay Manager.
• Participate in quality incident investigations.

Required profile

• High school chemistry or equivalent; 5+ years of fire assay experience (or equivalent functional experience).
• Ability to lift up to 40‑50 lbs and work in a laboratory environment with chemical and heat hazards.
• Strong people skills and ability to work in a demanding environment.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
