Financial Examiner 1 – Fraud Unit, Audits Division

About the role

The Georgia Department of Revenue is seeking a Financial Examiner 1 to join the Fraud Unit within the Audits Division. This position focuses on protecting revenue integrity, supporting investigations, and ensuring compliance with state tax laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify tax documents, assets, and liabilities to ensure compliance with state laws.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and IT staff to identify and correct issues related to the Discovery Campaign and mass account adjustments.
• Support system testing and improvement, including addressing missing W‑2s and the Tax Clearance Portal.
• Assist call center agents, the Fraud Scheme Team, Special Agents, the Tribunal Appeals Group, and other internal partners in investigations and resolution efforts.
• Contribute to a team culture that values collaboration, respect, accountability, and inclusion.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or three years of relevant experience.
• Strong judgment, integrity, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and make sound decisions that consider taxpayer and departmental impact.
