Financial Counseling Representative (PRN)

About the role

R1 RCM is hiring a Financial Counseling Representative for its ER department, working on-site at St. George Regional Hospital and Intermountain Cedar City Hospital in Utah. The position is PRN, with shifts scheduled Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Spanish bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Help patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
• Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits clearly
• Assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications
• Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
• Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
• Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion, empathy and patience when supporting patients
• Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail
• Professionalism in sensitive financial conversations
