Financial Controller – Mid-Market Company

About the role

We are a well‑established, privately owned mid‑market company seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This high‑visibility position partners directly with ownership and senior management to deliver accurate reporting, drive process improvements, and support continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions: general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and month‑end/year‑end close.
• Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow reporting, and financial analysis.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with leadership to provide financial insight for decision‑making.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external CPA firms, banks, and advisors.
• Monitor working capital, cash flow, and overall financial performance.
• Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility.
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle and financial statement preparation.
• Experience in a privately owned, entrepreneurial or mid‑market environment is a plus.
