Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and shape the financial operations of a high‑end real estate and construction firm. This hands‑on position will build the accounting function from the ground up and work directly with senior leadership to drive strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting, including AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, tax reporting, and cash‑flow management.
• Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for real‑estate and hospitality projects.
• Prepare financial statements, cash‑flow projections, variance analyses, and present findings to senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and lead audit preparation.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small accounting team.
• Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, risk management, and investment decisions.
• Provide detailed financial analysis for project feasibility, pro‑forma modeling, and forecasting.

Required profile

• 5‑10+ years of finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• Construction or real‑estate industry experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with financial software such as Yardi.
• Advanced Excel skills for modeling and analysis.
