Financial Controller

About the role

Spencer's is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead its finance function across its boutique spa locations. Based in Soho, New York, you will ensure accurate reporting, robust internal controls, and strategic financial guidance for a fast‑growing luxury wellness brand.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
• Own vendor management, cash flow, banking relationships, and disbursements.
• Develop, monitor, and update budgets, forecasts, and long‑term financial plans.
• Lead year‑end close, coordinate with external tax preparers, and ensure tax compliance.
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes.
• Analyze financial data, provide actionable recommendations, and support strategic planning.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulators.
• Supervise and mentor the Finance and Accounting team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a startup environment.
• Proven leadership in finance with responsibility for full accounting cycles.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
• Experience managing financial systems and overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
