Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead all accounting and financial operations for Savory's U.S. branch, which serves the construction, installation, and elevator service markets. Reporting to the Branch Manager, this senior leader ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with corporate standards, and supports profitable project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Maintain precise job costing and work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules for construction and installation projects.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close packages in line with strict corporate deadlines.
• Submit timely sales and use tax returns and reporting packages to the Canadian parent company.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, internal controls, and audit requirements.
• Monitor cash flow, support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Supervise a lean accounting team (one staff accountant and administrative support).
• Partner with the Branch Manager to analyze project performance, margins, and service profitability.

Required profile

• Senior‑level finance professional with extensive experience in construction or service‑oriented environments.
• Strong understanding of public‑company reporting standards and accelerated close cycles.
• Proven ability to collaborate with corporate finance, external auditors, and operational teams.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on financial discipline and risk mitigation.
