Financial Controller – Build & Lead Accounting Function

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing AI‑focused technology startup that is looking for its first Financial Controller. This ground‑floor opportunity offers full ownership of the accounting function, direct interaction with leadership, and the chance to shape financial processes from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete monthly and year‑end close process from start to finish.
• Select, implement, and configure accounting systems and tools to support scaling.
• Design and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures where none currently exist.
• Serve as the inaugural accounting hire and lay the groundwork for a future accounting team.
• Partner directly with leadership on financial reporting, cash management, and audit readiness.
• Establish scalable finance processes to support the next phase of growth.

Required profile

• CPA certification.
• Career started in public accounting with experience handling full close cycles independently.
• Prior experience building or scaling an accounting function in a startup environment.
• Comfort operating without an established team or infrastructure.

Required skills

• ERP implementation experience.
• Proficiency with accounting software selection and rollout.
