Financial Aid Coordinator – Verification

About the role

The Verification Coordinator supports LSU's Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by ensuring accurate verification of student financial information and compliance with federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and enter verification action items for admitted and continuing students.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between self‑reported data and supporting documentation.
• Communicate conflicts and request additional information to resolve verification issues.
• Review FAFSA transactions for potential conflicts and initiate appropriate verification actions.
• Analyze the transfer monitoring report from the U.S. Department of Education for mid‑year transfer students.
• Perform calculations for the return of Title IV funds in accordance with Department of Education timelines.
• Monitor and post refunds for Title IV funds returned by students who resign.
• Participate in special projects (approximately 10% of workload).
• Serve as a rotating member of the satisfactory academic progress appeals committee.
• Represent LSU and the Office of Enrollment Management & Student Success at professional and recruiting events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Eligibility to obtain National Student Loan Database System access and not be in default on a student loan.
