Financial Aid Assistant (Federal Work Study)

About the role

The Financial Aid Office at South Georgia Technical College is seeking a Federal Work Study student to support daily office operations. This part‑time role provides valuable experience in a higher‑education environment while helping students navigate financial aid processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clerical tasks such as typing, filing, copying, and scanning documents.
• Answer and direct phone calls in a courteous manner.
• Assist Financial Aid staff with various administrative duties.
• Provide professional customer service to students and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and financial aid information.
• Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours for the applicable semester.
• Approved for Federal Student Aid for the award year.
• Eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study (FWS) program.
• Making satisfactory academic progress.
• Pass a criminal background check (and credit check if applicable).
• Complete all required State of Georgia employment paperwork before starting work.

Required skills

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $10.00.
• Up to 20 hours per week, flexible to accommodate class schedules.
• Maximum of 225 work hours per semester.
