Financial Accountant II

About the role

The Financial Accountant II supports the university’s property accounting function, ensuring accurate asset tracking and financial reporting. This position works closely with Facilities Services and various campus departments to maintain compliance with state and institutional accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile capital and controlled asset balances.
• Prepare general ledger entries in FAMIS and USAS.
• Generate monthly and year‑end reports of asset purchases and disposals.
• Manage asset changes, perform error checks, and resolve discrepancies.
• Review asset purchase coding and disposal requests for accuracy.
• Assist with annual physical inventory and compile missing asset lists.
• Coordinate timely asset tagging and maintain documentation.
• Respond to department property inquiries and provide accurate information.
• Ensure proper asset transfers and support process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education/experience.
• Broad knowledge of general accounting procedures, preferably in a state agency or higher‑education setting.
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
