Field Service Technician – Power Distribution

About the role
Schneider Electric is seeking a Field Service Technician to deliver assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance on power distribution and critical power equipment at customer sites across the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Perform pre‑site startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modifications on UPS, switchgear, ATS and PDU equipment.
- Collaborate with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support and district service teams to solve problems.
- Complete field service reports, expense reports, preventive‑maintenance logs and startup data sheets.
- Travel regionally (and occasionally nationwide) to provide on‑site support, including overnight trips.
- Assist senior technicians and support project managers on larger system start‑ups.
- Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues.
Required profile
- Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification, military training or equivalent electrical‑related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Strong understanding of AC and DC power principles and related circuit components.
- Minimum 2 years of field service repair and customer service experience with UPS systems, power distribution, switchgear, ATS or PDUs.
- At least 2 years of overall field service or equivalent industry experience.
- Commitment to safety practices, including lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and timely completion of safety training.
