Field Service Technician – Mining Equipment

About the role

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician to support underground mining equipment at sites in Billings, MT and occasionally Idaho. The role combines hands‑on mechanical and electrical work with customer training and equipment commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, engine and electrical components of bolters, drills, diesel trucks and loaders.
• Commission new equipment and provide on‑site training to customers.
• Perform inspections, diagnose faults, replace defective parts, and test equipment to verify proper operation.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure analyses and parts lists.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and stay current with industry developments.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical or electrical background with proven diagnostic abilities.
• Comfortable working underground and in surface shop environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and use a company vehicle.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
