Field Service Technician – Mining Equipment (Fairbanks, AK)

About the role

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain underground mining equipment in the Fairbanks, AK area. The role involves both underground and surface work, focusing on diesel trucks, load‑haul systems, hydraulics, engines, and electrical components.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical aspects of underground mining equipment (load & haul).
• Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites with minimal supervision.
• Inspect equipment, identify faults, adjust and replace defective parts or systems.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with industry developments.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Adhere to all Sandvik, customer, state, and federal safety policies.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical or electrical background with solid diagnostic skills.
• Comfortable working underground and on the surface.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time and use a company vehicle.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safety compliance and customer satisfaction.
