Field Service Technician - Journeyman License

About the role

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators. This hands‑on role supports the transition to clean energy while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
• Commission new systems and upgrades ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements.
• Utilize diagnostic tools including multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
• Follow safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty repairs.
• Communicate system status and repair recommendations to homeowners.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of electrical experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• State‑required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work on rooftops.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
