Field Service Superintendent – Energy (Remote, US)

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking an experienced Field Service Superintendent to lead complex mechanical service activities for reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE) and auxiliary systems at customer power plants. This permanent, remote‑based position in the United States offers the chance to act as the senior technical authority on‑site, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead major mechanical overhauls, including full engine disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of 4‑stroke reciprocating engines and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of mechanical and operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Serve as Superintendent for complex service projects, coordinating Service Engineers, Technicians, and other field resources.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, leading discussions and managing expectations.
• Prepare detailed Service Work Reports with findings, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Support New Build and Commissioning activities and ensure compliance with Wärtsilä QHSE guidelines.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical service of large reciprocating engines and auxiliary systems.
• Proven ability to lead on‑site teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong customer‑facing communication skills and technical decision‑making capability.
