Field Service Engineer III – Implant

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Field Service Engineer III to serve as the primary technical liaison for customers installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor ion‑implant equipment. You will work directly in customer fabs, using digital analytics and diagnostic tools to ensure high equipment uptime and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, upgrade, and repair semiconductor manufacturing equipment, focusing on maximizing tool uptime.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic software, analytics, schematics, and root‑cause analysis.
• Perform preventative maintenance, system recoveries, calibrations, and optimization across electrical, mechanical, vacuum, hydraulic, and gas subsystems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation to support effective problem resolution.
• Collaborate with customers and cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of field service experience supporting semiconductor equipment, preferably ion‑implant systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical training.
• Proven ability to support critical manufacturing operations while minimizing downtime.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in cleanroom environments.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise with ion‑implant equipment and related subsystems (vacuum, beamline, power supplies, gas delivery, robotics, wafer handling).
• Electrical, mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters.
• Interpretation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Use of diagnostic software and equipment logs for root‑cause analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.

• Salary range $37.00 – $51.20 per hour.
• Work locations include Hsinchu (Taiwan), Phoenix (AZ), Taichung (Taiwan), and Tainan (Taiwan).
