About the role
As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading cutting‑edge semiconductor equipment. The role combines hardware troubleshooting, digital analytics and on‑site service to ensure high‑performance operation of multimillion‑dollar production systems.
Key responsibilities
- Install, test, and upgrade customer equipment while performing scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Follow training procedures and published task plans to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
- Complete required documentation, safety training and parts‑processing procedures.
- Represent Applied Materials with a “customer‑first” mindset and comply with safety, environmental and COVID‑19 guidelines.
- Train junior engineers on site safety, troubleshooting methods and customer‑first practices.
Required profile
- Associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies, or equivalent military technical training and field experience.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Clear written and verbal communication with strong documentation focus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Advanced mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
- Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper use of a digital multimeter.
