Field Quality Engineer

About the role

The Field Quality Engineering team at Tesla works to improve the customer experience by reducing issues that arise in the field. This role focuses on root‑causing failures, driving cross‑functional design changes, and implementing controls to enhance product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional problem‑solving teams to investigate and resolve field issues.
• Monitor vehicle field performance, identify trends, and conduct technical root‑cause analysis of chassis, LV/HV, firmware, and thermal systems.
• Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions across manufacturing, design, and suppliers.
• Communicate field performance data and improvement priorities to engineering peers and leadership.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement activities, share lessons learned, and provide feedback during design reviews (DFMEAs).
• Support ongoing product and process optimization for performance, cost, and technology.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Power Electronics, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Prior hands‑on experience in failure analysis, manufacturing, quality, or service within consumer electronics or automotive.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
