Federal Work Study Bookstore Assistant

About the role

The Federal Work Study Bookstore Assistant supports daily operations of the Southern Crescent Technical College bookstore in Griffin, Georgia. Working under general supervision, you will assist students, faculty and visitors with their purchasing needs while gaining valuable retail experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers courteously, answer questions, and help select textbooks and other merchandise.
• Answer, screen and route telephone calls to appropriate staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely messaging and information delivery.
• Display merchandise attractively, promote sales and special promotions.
• Assist with pricing, inventory control, stock rotation, and conducting inventory counts.
• Perform general clerical duties and keep shelves stocked with textbooks, supplies, clothing, snacks and drinks.
• Ensure the store environment remains clean, orderly and free of clutter.
• Adhere to scheduled work hours, break policies and attendance procedures.

Required profile

• Current student eligible for Federal Work Study.
• Experience or interest in retail sales, customer service, merchandising or inventory control.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb, bend, stoop and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills and a courteous, “can‑do” attitude.
