Farm Technician – Agricultural Research

About the role

The Division of Agriculture at the University of Arkansas seeks a Farm Technician to support multidisciplinary research focused on poultry health, food safety, and environmental sustainability. The role involves hands‑on fieldwork, data collection, and laboratory processing to advance projects that reduce antibiotic use, pathogenic infections, and ammonia emissions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with in‑house bird studies aimed at improving food safety and reducing antibiotic reliance.
• Support poultry litter amendment experiments to lower ammonia emissions and enhance animal welfare.
• Conduct field sampling, collect data, and process biological samples according to project protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team of researchers, extension specialists, and graduate students.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in agricultural research and animal health.
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed scientific protocols.
• Excellent organizational skills for managing sample inventories and data logs.
