Farm Manager

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks a Farm Manager to oversee daily operations and long‑term stewardship of its Agricultural Experimental Station farms. The role supports faculty, students, and staff in research, teaching, and outreach aligned with the land‑grant mission.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all field operations, including planting, crop management, irrigation, harvesting, and pest/disease control following research protocols.
• Supervise and coordinate the farm crew, schedule work, train staff, and ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of field activities, equipment maintenance, pesticide use, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with faculty to support crop, soil, and livestock research projects.
• Manage farm infrastructure, equipment safety, procurement, inventory, budgeting, and operational reporting.
• Serve as liaison with university administration, Extension personnel, and external stakeholders, providing logistical support for teaching and outreach events.
