Family Nurse Practitioner

About the role

Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH), a Federally Qualified Health Center founded in 1989 and serving over 28,000 patients across eight health centers, is hiring a Family Nurse Practitioner. FNPs provide primary care to patients from infants to seniors, conducting well checks, screening for disease symptoms, administering treatments and ordering tests.

Key responsibilities

• Educate patients on community services and the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health, and counsel on family planning, contraception, pregnancy, STDs and childbirth
• Take, evaluate and record comprehensive health histories and perform full physical exams for children to geriatrics
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical illnesses and stable behavioral/psychological problems, and perform simple in-office procedures
• Provide well-child care, including screening and immunizations, and consult specialists when needed
• Order and interpret labs and imaging to guide treatment
• Prescribe non-pharmacological therapies and medications, including Schedule II-V controlled substances, and manage common gynecological problems

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted NYS Nurse Practitioner license
• National board certification in family medicine or med-peds
• Minimum of five years of licensed experience
• CPR certification (can be provided)
• Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and to work flexible hours, including some evenings
• Fluent Spanish and English preferred
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, sit for long periods and communicate by phone, online and in person
