Fall 2026 Microenterprise Program Intern (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in San Diego is seeking an unpaid Fall 2026 Microenterprise Program Intern to support its In‑Home Childcare Licensing Program. This three‑week program helps refugee and low‑income entrepreneurs launch licensed family childcare businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Assist walk‑in clients with intake and provide general program support.
• Help entrepreneurs develop and complete business plans for in‑home childcare.
• Support the business counselor in preparing licensing documents and liaising with government agencies.
• Create or update flyers and marketing materials to promote the program.
• Conduct quality‑assurance tasks, including self‑audits and follow‑up assessments.
• Gather data on program outcomes and assist with monitoring.
• Facilitate and coordinate training sessions.
• Participate in outreach activities and public events as needed.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or certificate program.
• Pursuing or holding a degree in business, economics, finance, social sciences, or a related field.
• Experience with administrative tasks and basic office work.
• Strong interest in microenterprise development and refugee entrepreneurship.
