About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Facility Director 1 to lead operations at the Elbert Shaw Regional Youth Detention Center in Dalton. This senior position oversees security, staff management, and program delivery within a correctional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and monitor prison security functions to maintain custody and safety of inmates.
• Identify training needs, provide guidance, and conduct training for correctional staff.
• Interview, hire, supervise, evaluate, discipline, and, when necessary, discharge corrections employees.
• Manage human‑resources and administrative activities for the facility.
• Oversee daily operations, budget monitoring, inspections, investigations, and crisis response.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate correctional programs and activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Four years of criminal‑justice or correctional experience, including at least two years of management or supervisory responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage complex security operations.
