Facilities Plumber / Pipefitter

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking a skilled Facilities Plumber/Pipefitter to join its Facilities Management Department. You will work on the design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of mechanical piping systems that support the Bank’s operations and life‑safety infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, layout, prefabrication, and installation of facility piping systems.
• Inspect and ensure code compliance for fire pumps, sprinkler, halon, and FM‑200 systems.
• Assist maintenance staff with preventive and corrective work on mechanical piping.
• Coordinate routing of new piping with other trades to avoid conflicts.
• Manage shutdowns of building mechanical and fire‑suppression systems.
• Serve as technical resource, reviewing specifications and overseeing compliance.
• Support HVAC technicians with installation, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC equipment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5‑9+ years of relevant plumbing/pipefitting experience.
• Completion of a Virginia‑state recognized 4‑year apprenticeship program.
• Journeyman plumber certification.
• Gas Fitter and Backflow Prevention experience.
