About the role
As a Facilities Operator you will ensure the reliable operation of critical utility systems at one of Tesla’s advanced manufacturing sites. You will monitor equipment, respond to alarms, and work with cross‑functional teams to keep production running safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor utility equipment such as compressed air, chilled water, RODI generation, and chemical systems using control systems.
- Review, manage, and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms, collaborating with engineering to rationalize and document changes.
- Execute equipment start‑up, shutdown, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, adjusting processes as needed.
- Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and alarm cards after system design or specification changes.
- Serve as the point of contact for ongoing process occurrences, working with manufacturing, engineering, construction, security, EHS, and contractors.
- Improve equipment reliability by analyzing schematics and P&ID diagrams and working with facilities engineers.
- Use the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track equipment status, create work orders, and escalate major issues.
Required profile
- Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical system operations.
- Experience handling chemicals and working with electrical distribution.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including night shifts and compressed work weeks.
- Strong verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
- Willingness to wear required PPE, work in hazardous areas, and respond to audible alarms.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, or walk for 10+ hours, lift 10‑20 lb regularly, and climb ladders or stairs.
- College/technical school education or equivalent work experience; relevant certifications are a plus.
