Facilities Manager – Building Operations

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Facilities Manager to lead building operations in North Miami, overseeing tradespeople and ensuring 24/7 reliability of critical university facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Directs plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other maintenance staff to maintain operational efficiency of campus buildings.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and a wide range of codes and standards (NFPA, OSHA, Joint Commission, AHCA, CMS, FGI).
• Manages budgeting, invoice approval, staffing schedules, and internal controls for facility services.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of facilities management experience in healthcare or other regulated environments.
• Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred.
• Experience interacting with authorities having jurisdiction, supporting accreditation surveys, and participating in emergency preparedness.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, emergency power, and building automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering specifications, and code requirements.
• Project management and contractor oversight capabilities.
