Facilities Maintenance Plumber

About the role

The Facilities Maintenance Plumber is responsible for the operation, preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the water, steam, gas, sewer, medical gas, vacuum, and fire protection systems across Ochsner's facilities in the Shreveport region.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repair and installation tasks on plumbing systems, including water, sewer, steam, air, medical gas, vacuum, and fire protection.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on system components and document activities per department procedures.
• Assist external contractors during utility outages, major repairs, or new construction projects.
• Support other Facilities Management staff with infrastructure‑related troubleshooting and repairs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school training in plumbing or pipe fitting preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial/industrial plumbing experience, including reading schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
• Current Louisiana State Journeyman Plumbers License (required); Medical Gas and Back‑Flow certifications preferred.
• Ability to work independently, handle emergencies, and perform physically demanding tasks in various environments.
