Facilities Engineer – Los Angeles

About the role

The Facilities Engineer supports the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Los Angeles site by ensuring all building systems operate safely and efficiently. Working under the guidance of senior engineering staff, the role involves responding to emergencies, completing work orders, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls from occupants and communicate status updates.
• Fulfill work orders for repairs, installations, and routine maintenance of building and equipment systems.
• Provide customer service and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes.
• Conduct regular building inspections and report unresolved problems.
• Complete the 2019 SF Safety Certification program and other required training.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in all work areas after tasks are completed.
• Escort and coordinate vendors, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Assist senior engineers with installation, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical distribution, environmental control, and specialty building systems.

Required profile

• Works under direction of the Manager, Chief Engineer, Supervisor, or Lead Engineer.
• Demonstrates effective communication during emergency response.
• Successfully completes assigned safety and training programs.

Required skills

• Electrical distribution systems – panels, generators, UPS, transfer switches, load banks, transformers, motor controllers, breakers, relays, sensors, wiring and conduits.
• Environmental control equipment – boilers, chillers, HVAC units, humidifiers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, pumps, piping, motors, electric and pneumatic controls, valves, VFDs, PLCs, building automation systems.
• Specialty building systems – fire/life safety, access control, fire suppression, kitchen equipment, mail conveyor, currency‑residue transport/compaction, fuel filtering and delivery.
