Fabrication Machine Operator – Night Shift

About the role

Red Dot Buildings is looking for a dependable, safety‑focused Fabrication Machine Operator to work the night shift at its Athens, Texas facility. You will operate specialized equipment that pulls, processes, and welds steel plates, web, and flange components for custom structural projects.

Key responsibilities

• Read and follow shop drawings, production instructions, and material specifications.
• Verify correct material selection, measure, position, and stage structural steel components.
• Operate plate‑pulling, plate‑processing, pull‑through welding, or other fabrication machinery based on training.
• Set up, monitor, and adjust equipment throughout the production process.
• Use tape measures and tools to confirm dimensions and component accuracy.
• Operate overhead cranes and lifting devices to safely load, position, and move steel.
• Maintain material identification, traceability, and a clean, organized work area.
• Inspect completed components for proper measurements, alignment, weld placement, and visible defects.
• Report equipment malfunctions, material discrepancies, and quality concerns to supervisors.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic operator‑level maintenance.

Required profile

• Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, welding, or structural steel fabrication (preferred).
• At least one year of MIG welding experience preferred for pull‑through welding tasks.
• Ability to read or learn to read shop drawings and production prints.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized equipment.
• Excellent attention to measurements, material identification, and quality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely around heavy steel and moving machinery.
