External Communications Coordinator

About the role

The External Communications Coordinator joins Macy’s External Communications team to help shape and deliver the company’s public narrative. Working closely with senior communications leaders, this role supports brand and corporate storytelling, media engagement, and reporting that align with Macy’s business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and coordinate media materials such as press releases, executive talking points, briefing documents, and FAQs.
• Support executive media opportunities, including pitch preparation, interview logistics, and on‑site needs.
• Track and report media coverage for brand and corporate announcements, producing daily enterprise media reports for senior leaders.
• Manage budgets, purchase orders, invoice processing, vendor relationships, and media database organization.
• Provide on‑site support for major events like the Macy’s Flower Show, 4th of July Fireworks, Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Black Friday, requiring availability evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Coordinate calendars, milestones, editorial plans, and shared resources to ensure smooth execution of communications initiatives.
• Liaise with external PR agencies, vendors, and brand partners to develop media briefs, track deliverables, and meet deadlines.

Required profile

• Ability to work closely with senior communications leaders and cross‑functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills for managing calendars, budgets, and reporting trackers.
• Flexibility to support high‑visibility events outside regular business hours.
• Experience coordinating media materials and executive communication assets.
