Extension Assistant – Agricultural Research

About the role

The Extension Assistant supports faculty‑led research and extension activities within the Biological & Agricultural Engineering department. This position involves hands‑on field and laboratory work, data management, and preparation of technical reports.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty in designing experiments, installing and maintaining research/demonstration plots.
• Collect, analyze, and record field and laboratory data; prepare written summaries for reports and manuscripts.
• Gather background information for technical and non‑technical publications.
• Use computers to conduct literature reviews, generate statistical displays, and produce reports.
• Ensure availability of research equipment and laboratory supplies; procure items as needed.
• Perform other research or experimental duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural/Biological Engineering, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience collecting field data and presenting results.
• Familiarity with laboratory and technical equipment.
• Proficiency with computers and software for data management and presentation.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and multitask.

• Microsoft Excel (including graph generation)
