Experienced Litigation Paralegal – Casualty Defense

About the role

Marshall Dennehey, a large civil defense litigation firm, is seeking an experienced paralegal to join its Wilmington, DE office. The role focuses on litigation and casualty defense matters, supporting attorneys handling catastrophic injury, product liability, construction defect, motor vehicle, premises liability, and professional liability cases.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, review, and analyze documents such as medical, financial, tax, and employment records.
• Create chronological summaries of medical records and factual information.
• Prepare trial materials including notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.
• Compile evidence by searching discovery documents, transcripts, and databases.
• Manage case files and coordinate with support services, clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Generate status reports, logs, and indexes.
• Correspond with clients and opposing law firms.
• Conduct legal research and medical fact analysis.
• Communicate with experts and assess their qualifications.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of litigation or casualty defense experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree.
• Paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program (preferred).

Required skills

• Strong document review and analysis abilities.
• Experience with discovery and trial preparation.
• Effective case management and coordination skills.
• Legal research proficiency.
