Experienced Accountant

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Experienced Accountant to join its finance team. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate month‑end close, payroll accounting, and financial reporting while supporting compliance across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Perform month‑end functions including payroll deduction reconciliations, cash account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Analyze monthly payroll transactions, monitor salary expense trends, and assist with year‑end accounting tasks and audits.
• Complete analytic projects, prepare financial reports, and conduct cost‑reporting and audit schedules.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Stay current on federal, state, and local regulations and ensure all accounting activities comply with applicable laws and accreditation standards.
• Adhere to Ochsner’s Compliance & Privacy Program and promptly report any unethical or questionable behavior.

Required profile

• Solid experience in accounting, preferably within a large organization or healthcare setting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret payroll and financial data.
• Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local accounting regulations.
• Ability to travel between facilities as needed.
• Comfortable working in a predominantly sedentary environment.
